Kayak Tour Highlights

  • One-way itinerary — you’ll be sea kayaking through more of the San Juan Islands than anyone!
  • Camping on beautiful boat-in-only island parks. New campsites every day.
  • Paddling in the Orca Sanctuary
  • Great wildlife viewing opportunities.
  • Fully catered, all inclusive, with delicious meal plans!

This is a One-Way sea kayak tour that departs from San Juan Island and paddles to Anacortes, so you won’t be kayaking in the same area twice! We’re very excited to be have designed a sea kayaking adventure that’s unlike anything else being offered here in the San Juan Islands.

Your 5-Day trip begins on the west side of San Juan Island, in the federally proposed Orca Whale Sanctuary. Even though the Orca whales can be seen throughout the San Juan Islands, the first day of your trip will provide slightly higher chances of an encounter. Our membership in the Pacific Whale Watch Association gives us access to information provided by the Whale Spotting Network, so we’ll know if they’re in the area and can plan accordingly.

Although every trip is a little different, the first night of your journey will likely be spent on either Stuart Island State Park or Jones Island State Park. Both islands are beautiful and provide participants with opportunities to walk along forested paths leading to amazing views. The campgrounds are clean and well-maintained by the State Parks department, with drinking water available as well as state-of-the-art solar composting toilets.

During that first evening, you and your guide will be able to plan a route towards Anacortes that best suits the needs of the group and provides the most rewarding experience. Your guides are quite knowledgeable about the San Juan Islands and they’re very talented at planning the best trip to meet your expectations.

Like all of our multi-day kayak tours, this trip is a fully catered event. All of your meals are provided, as well as snacks and hot drinks. Your meals are personally planned by AKT owner Megan Schorr — she takes a lot of pride in coming up with a delicious and satisfying menu!

In addition to being fully catered, our trips also include all of your kayaking and camping equipment. All you need to bring are your personal items and a sleeping bag! If you’re not traveling with a bag, we can provide you with a clean and comfortable sleeping bag for a small fee.

We know that you have several good choices of outfitters offering this same itinerary. We encourage you to browse through our web site, read about our company, and see what we are all about. And we hope that you’ll give us a call!

Join us, and see why our customers consistently help to vote Anacortes Kayak Tours as one of the top Eco-Adventures in the Northwest!

We specialize in small group, all inclusive, multi-day sea kayak trips in the San Juans.

  • On these multi-day sea kayaking expeditions we strictly adhere to a 6 guest per guide ratio. All trips larger than 6 people will have two guides.
  • Groups of 5 or more guests can choose to have a private kayaking experience!
    (multi-day trips only)
  • A small sea kayaking group can move much more efficiently. We need less time attending to logistical issues like setting up or breaking camp and have more time for exploring and having fun in the San Juan Islands.
  • All camping and kayaking equipment is provided, as are all meals, including lunches.

The longer multi-day sea kayaking expeditions are best suited for folks in reasonably good shape. Occasionally there is a need to make a long push to get to the next campsite and we would not want to wear anyone out on a long crossing. We actually design these trips to be a little more physically involved. 5 day trips might average 8-10 miles per day paddling.

Anacortes Kayak Tours reserves the right to change or cancel available departure dates and prices. Once you book a kayak tour with us we will run it, as long as weather conditions permit us to conduct a safe sea kayaking excursion.

On multiday kayaking trips we do have a minimum of two people to run the trip, this is a matter of safety, not economics.

Don’t hesitate to call us if you have questions or would like additional details on any of our trips.

For 4–5 years we have been doing a yearly outing of a guided kayak trip and found your group to be the most organized, friendly and well equipped so far.

Your kayaks, life vests and spray skirts were by far the best, driest and cleanest …And the fact that we did not have to “schlep” our own kayaks off/on the beach and truck was a real treat!! You have a first class organization going and I wish you continued success!!

Sincerely,
Noel (Nikki)
